Lobby Day 2011 / Legislative Updates

Thanks to all who joined us for Lobby Day in Austin. We had a busy day at the Capitol meeting with legislators in support of the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program and our message was well received.

A message from TXMPA President and DPA Board Member Don Stokes was sent in early June with news of where the Incentive Program funding stands as the legislative session was wrapping up. TXMPA continues to need help funding the efforts to bring & keep production jobs in Texas. DPA is a strong supporter of TXMPA as an organization and we encourage individual DPA members to Join TXMPA and stay informed on this important issue.

The Dallas Producers Association is pleased to be the Presenting Sponsor of the "Get on the Bus" campaign for the Texas Motion Picture Alliance (TXMPA) Lobby Day. Purchasing a seat on the bus entitles you to a round trip bus ride, departing Tuesday, March 8th at 1:00 PM and returning Wednesday, March 9th at approximately 11:30 PM.

I’ve been a part of DPA and it’s been a part of my business since I moved to Dallas in 1981. I’ve met many of the people I compete with for business through DPA and several of them have become good friends. DPA gives us all an opportunity to work together for the betterment of the community. I’m proud of the role we’ve played in working with different governing bodies to boost our industry: the sales tax exemption through the Comptroller’s office, Rule One with SAG/AFTRA, independent contractor status as SOP for crew, and TXMPA lobbying the state legislature for incentives.
