and 20 Texas Premieres. In addition, we are thrilled to host six
special feature films beginning with GASLAND and then followed

Hollywood insider Bobette Busters; festival-sponsored parties;
and more. http://2010.thinlinefilmfest.com
Our first meeting of 2010 was a mixer/networking event at The
Belmont Hotel. DPA Mixers and Networking events are great opportunities
to learn more about other local area producers and support companies,
network for production opportunities and build relationships with
key industry professionals.
Our bi-annual members showcase meetings are always fun to attend
and this one was no exception. The Art Institute of Dallas hosted
the meeting and provided a wonderful display of delicious appetizers
and tours of their educational facility.
The night's emphasis was on the "Next Generation" of
producers, and the DPA revealed several initiatives to outreach
to students and future producers. The showcase started with the
DPA's first student presenter, Justin Scheidt.
And there were a wide variety of talented DPA members who showcased
their
work: Dallas Audio Post Group, Frozen Fire Films, Bill Schwarz,
Film and Video Direction, AMS Pictures. Then, we concluded the
evening watching another student's work, Ryan Kline, with the
introduction of VideoFest.

On September 1st, Motus Digital hosted a DPA mixer/program on
motion capture/animation. Iron Dragon Productions and Fighting
Stunts Association performed several live-action demonstrations
in martial arts for the audience. While everyone was entertained
by the martial arts action, Motus Digital's team turned the performance
into a real-time previsualization and provided an enlightening
motion capture demonstration.
At the meeting, DPA Members picked up their FREE Texas Incentive
DVD. A presentation on the new Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive
Program by Bob Hudgins, Director of the Texas Film Commission
has been combined with Texas Incentive documents and website addresses
on this DVD. It is an excellent source of information on the Incentive
Program, what types of productions qualify, how to apply for incentives,
and much more.
The DVD was made possible by the generous efforts of Studios
121 and Replicopy. If DPA members were unable to attend the meeting,
there is still an opportunity to receive a free DVD at upcoming
meetings and events and at the DPA offices.

We hope you didn't miss our mixer at Times Ten Cellars in Lakewood.
We had a record crowd of DPA members and guests who enjoyed delicious
appetizers, wine and drinks. Everyone enjoyed a night of networking
and relaxing in a truly unique and beautiful winery, Times Ten
Cellars.
A
packed house was on hand Tuesday, July 7, at Studios 121, for
an informational meeting with Bob Hudgins, Director of the Texas
Film Commission. Bob discussed the new Texas Moving Image Industry
Incentive Program with local producers and answered questions
about how to apply. On April 23, 2009, Governor Rick Perry signed
HB 873 which established a new and improved incentive program
for media production in Texas. This new bill increases the amount
of funding that feature films, television programs, video games
and stand-alone post-production/finishing projects can receive.
It also lowers the minimum budgetary requirements so that the
program allows for local productions, such as commercials, industrials
and even independent films to apply.
